rewiring reality – sonic art as an enhancement of reality

instead of creating objects, aural codes alters the perception of objects. instead of presenting explained worlds or pieces, it breaks unreflected habits of perceiving the world. in so doing it redirects attention towards the structure of perception itself. it motivates a reflection on everyday perception without relying on habitual concepts of sonic perception to carry meaning.

instead of creating musical, sonic progressions it opens up the view to new impossible ways of perceiving and listening.

the work of sonic art as enhancement of reality is concerned with the form of listening rather than with creating a fixed sequence to listen to. it sets up a machinery to enable a certain process, a way of perceiving reality. by doing so it creates paths to make the 'recipient' transgress and leave the everyday perception of things.

sonic art as reality enhancement attempts to rewire reality, i.e. to rewire the perception of reality. by altering, filtering the perception of reality it infiltrates the secure world of the recipient, firmly founded in all its different contexts. by re-interpreting things or just pushing the 'normal' contexts of things out of sight enhancement of reality tries to shed light on the 'recipient's' role as the founder of his world, as an active part in the artistic process.
